Hogzilla — The 800-Pound Wild Hog That Became a Legend

On June 17, 2004, Chris Griffin was hunting on Ken Holyoak's fish farm and hunting reserve near Alapaha, Georgia, when he encountered a hog of almost mythical proportions. The photo of the beast hanging from a backhoe went viral before "going viral" was even a phrase. Skeptics called it a hoax -- until National Geographic sent forensic scientists to exhume the remains. Their verdict: Hogzilla was real, a wild boar-domestic pig hybrid weighing a verified 800 pounds and stretching between 6.9 and 8.6 feet long.

Forensically verified by National Geographic scientists as one of the largest wild hog specimens ever documented in the United States.
